The $17.6m contract was a combined Lump Sum (retaining walls) and Schedule of Rates (all other works) Contract for the RTA. The works comprised the upgrading and widening of The Entrance Road between Ocean View Drive and Pitt Road, Wamberal which catered for an average of 35,000 vehicles a day.

The work consisted of property adjustments, relocation of the existing utilities including HV and LV Power, Telstra main and distribution networks, sewer, water and gas utilities. Roadworks included erosion and sedimentation control, earthworks, surface and subsurface drainage, retaining walls, pavement, safety barriers, roadside furniture, landscaping and ancillary works.

The sloping terrain and the need to maintain access to the 100 plus properties that front the road and the daily traffic volumes added to the complexity of this project.
