The $45.7m North Shore Boulevard project involved the detailed design and construction of a two-way rural road link between North Shore and Bushland Beach. The Stage 1 design phase started in March 2009 and early construction works and detailed design commenced in August 2009.
The scope of works incorporated 7km of road, two bridges and numerous cross drainage structures enabling the road to be trafficable during a Q50 storm event.
The project was staged to enable the developer to access their subdivisions and practical completion of the first 1.1km of road is expected in early April 2010. This stage included a three span bridge over Saunders Creek and two lit and signalised intersections. The remainder of the works also included a three span bridge over Stony Creek and a major lit and signalised intersection at the Mt Low Parkway.
In addition to the road works, 1100m of 600mm water main, with 9km of sewer rising main was constructed. This ranged in diameter from 250mm DICL pipes and fittings up 600mm dia. Major conduit banks for electrical and communications services were also installed for future use.
