The $25.7m project, situated in the remote town of St Lawrence, involved the construction of a new bridge over the St Lawrence Creek, demolition of the existing structure and around a 1.2km deviation of the existing North Coast Line.
The remote location and surrounding environment posed numerous challenges for the project team, such as the extreme tidal range and high flows of the St Lawrence Creek. These challenges were overcome with the construction of a temporary falsework bridge which allowed the team to complete all works with minimal constraints from the tidal movements.
Extensive front-end planning with the client and designers produced this fully integrated temporary works system and ensured that the project team produced exceptional outcomes in terms of safety, functionality and productivity.
