Ipswich Motorway Upgrade, Dinmore to Goodna

The $1.5b Ipswich Motorway Upgrade, between Dinmore and Goodna is a design and construct project featuring the widening of 8km of motorway to at least six lanes, and construction of new service roads to cater for local traffic.

Seymour Whyte Constructions is delivering the project in an Alliance with the client Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, contractors Abigroup and Fulton Hogan and designers, Parsons Brinckerhoff, and SMEC.  Works include significant earthworks, bridges, interchanges, structures and ground treatments including the filling of old coal mines.

Traffic management is crucial, given the project’s location in a very constrained, very busy corridor, used by approximately 100,000 vehicles every day. Detailed traffic modeling and ongoing consultation with stakeholders have ensured all traffic switches and temporary closures are successfully implemented.

The project is due for completion in early 2012.
