About

The Barton Highway Upgrade is a greenfield design and construction project for a new northbound two lane carriageway; construction of road safety improvement works to convert the existing bi-directional carriageway into a two lane southbound carriageway; and the upgrade and adjustment of several local road intersections from the ACT/NSW border north towards Kaveneys Road, NSW.

The upgrade will control property access along the project route to left-in and left-out; and improve key intersections to reduce highway traffic delays while providing improved safety for vehicle turning movements.

Key scope activities include:

  • Maintaining safe access in and out of properties
  • Concrete paving
  • U-turn bays
  • Traffic management
  • Community and stakeholder management
  • Earthworks
  • Intersection upgrades
  • Temporary works
  • Utilities relocation (high voltage power, Telstra, Optus)
  • Drainage

Seymour Whyte, in an alliance with TfNSW and design-partner SMEC, have been selected to deliver this first stage of the Barton Highway duplication which plays a vital role in the transport network and connection for both NSW and ACT customers, motorists and residents.
