Build your future with us
SeyWhy Women Build is Seymour Whyte’s dedicated pathway program supporting women to start, grow and build long-term careers in construction.
Whether you’re interested in a trade or engineering career, our programs provide paid experience, real project exposure and opportunities to build a rewarding career in infrastructure.
This is about building more than careers. It is about creating a culture where women are supported to lead, grow and belong.

Our goal
SeyWhy Women Build has been created to increase female participation across construction and support more women to build long-term careers in the industry.
Through traineeships, scholarships, internships, mentoring and industry partnerships, the program is designed to create meaningful pathways into construction – from site-based trade roles to engineering and project delivery careers.
We are committed to:
- retaining women in long-term construction careers by fostering an inclusive work environment and offering clear pathways for growth and advancement
- increasing female participation across all levels of the industry
- building a diverse and equitable industry where women are valued, recognised and have equal opportunities to succeed
- engaging female university students through scholarships, internships and hands-on project experience
- growing the number of women in site-based roles across our projects.
Program pathways
Trade careers

Our trade career pathway supports women to start a career in civil construction through paid, site-based traineeships.
Participants gain practical experience on Seymour Whyte projects while working towards a nationally recognised qualification: RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction – General.
The pathway includes:
- paid onsite experience through trusted industry partners
- hands-on learning across active construction projects
- mentoring and guidance from experienced site superintendents and supervisors
- opportunities to continue building a career with Seymour Whyte.
This pathway is currently available across selected projects in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, with plans to expand nationally.
Engineering pathways
Our engineering pathway supports female university students who are interested in a career in construction and infrastructure delivery.
There are two main opportunities available.
Scholarships
Seymour Whyte is partnering with universities to offer scholarships for female engineering students.
Scholarships of up to $10,000 are available for students in their penultimate year of study, along with the opportunity to undertake paid work experience with Seymour Whyte.
Internships
Paid internship opportunities are available for undergraduate students who are interested in gaining practical construction experience while completing their studies.
These roles are primarily suited to students in their final two years of study and are based on Seymour Whyte projects across Australia.
Current undergraduate opportunities are advertised on the Seymour Whyte careers page.
Mentoring
Students who commence work with Seymour Whyte will be supported through mentoring and guidance to help them build confidence, capability and industry connections.
