About

The Cowal Gold Mine Civil Works project involves road construction, bulk earthworks, heavy concrete foundations and construction of a 25 m deep reinforced concrete crusher pit, including substantial temporary works to stabilise the lower sections and reclaim tunnels. Other works include tank foundations, extensive slab on ground and water retaining structures.

Initial drawings for construction were substantially delayed, necessitating a collaborative, fast-tracked approach on site to maintain overall project program. The project is to be delivered under stringent time restrictions leading to many challenges such as the mobilisation and accommodation of the large labour force required to achieve the work quantum, in a relatively short contract period.

“We would like to sincerely thank you, your company and your workers for their generous donation, that we have recently received. This money will go a long way in helping us pay for insurance and much needed repairs to our ageing community hall. When we heard of your workers and company’s generous donation, it gives everyone faith in knowing that other people truly care about someone else’s plight. Once again, we thank you..”

Diane Studholme, Secretary, Weethalle Memorial Hall Committee, Jul 2005
