Marking a significant milestone, Seymour Whyte has been awarded its first project in South Australia – the Grange Road, Holbrooks Road, and East Avenue Intersection (Grange Road) Upgrade.
This contract, awarded by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, highlights Seymour Whyte’s growing presence across all mainland Australian states and its commitment to building a strong future in South Australia.
The project forms part of an $850 million package of broader network upgrades that are being undertaken as part of the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project.
The upgrade will deliver significant improvements for all road users, addressing congestion, enhancing safety, and boosting connectivity at this critical intersection.
Key benefits include:
- Reduced waiting times at traffic lights.
- Four new pedestrian crossings, enhancing safety for walkers.
- Improved safety for cyclists and public transport users.
- A direct connection across Grange Road, eliminating the current staggered intersection for faster, more efficient travel.
Courtney Hoops, Seymour Whyte’s General Manager for the Southern Region (VIC, SA and TAS), welcomed the milestone as a pivotal opportunity for the business.
“This project represents an exciting step forward for Seymour Whyte as we expand into South Australia. We are humbled by the trust placed in us by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, and we look forward to delivering an upgrade that will have a lasting positive impact on the community,” Mr Hoops said.
Chris Kyriacou, Seymour Whyte’s Manager for South Australia, expressed enthusiasm about leading Seymour Whyte into his home state.
“I am so proud to bring Seymour Whyte’s expertise to South Australia for the first time. This project represents our commitment to delivering innovative infrastructure solutions that enhance urban mobility, prioritise safety and connectivity, and foster sustainable growth,” Mr Kyriacou said.
“The project will also generate local employment opportunities, contributing directly to South Australia’s economy and supporting the community.”
“It’s a privilege to be part of Seymour Whyte’s expansion, particularly on a project that will enhance the daily lives of so many fellow South Australians,” he added.
Construction is underway with the project expected to open to traffic in late 2025.
