Seymour Whyte announces CEO succession and Board leadership transition

Seymour Whyte – a subsidiary of VINCI Construction – today announces a leadership transition effective on 1 January 2026.
John Kirkwood, who has served as Chief Executive Officer since 2015, will retire from executive duties and assume the role of Chair of the Board. In line with the company’s succession plan, Steve Lambert, currently Chief Operating Officer, will become the next Chief Executive Officer.
This planned transition comes at a time of strength for Seymour Whyte. Over the past decade, the company has expanded into new markets and geographies, delivered landmark and technically complex projects, and established itself as a high-performing business well positioned for the future.
Since joining the VINCI Group in 2017, Seymour Whyte has leveraged VINCI’s global expertise in concessions, construction and energies, while continuing to deliver major projects across Australia with a strong local presence.
This succession reinforces Seymour Whyte’s commitment to continuity, stability, and sustainable growth, ensuring the company remains strongly positioned to deliver Australia’s future infrastructure.
“Leading Seymour Whyte has been the highlight of my career. Together, we have built a diversified and successful business, founded on strong values and the ingenuity of our people. As I step into the role of Chair, I look forward to supporting Steve Lambert and the Executive Leadership Team as they continue to deliver value for our clients, partners, and communities.”
