About

Seymour Whyte — in a joint venture with John Holland — will deliver the toll-free Sydney Gateway motorway, a design and construct road project that links the airport precinct, Port Botany and the surrounding road network to the newly opened St Peters Interchange.

The project has been divided into two separate contracts to address the nature of works, project funding, the numerous stakeholder interfaces and the innate risks.

Stage 1: International Terminal and Qantas Drive Connection

  • St Peters interchange connection: a new elevated section of road extending from St Peters interchange to the Botany Rail Line, including bridges across Canal Road.
  • Terminal 1 (International) connection: a new section of road connecting International terminal to St Peters interchange, includes twin network arch bridges over Alexandra Canal and an overpass over the Port Botany Rail Line.
  • Qantas Drive upgrade and extension: widening and upgrading Qantas Drive to connect Terminals 2 and 3 (Domestic) to St Peters Interchange, including a high-level bridge over Port Botany Rail Line and Alexandra Canal.
  • Terminal links: two new sections of road connecting International to the Domestic Terminals, including a bridge over Alexandra Canal.
  • A new section of road and an overpass connecting Sydney Airport’s northern lands on either side of the Port Botany Rail Line (the northern lands access).
  • A new section of road, including a signalised intersection with the Terminal 1 connection and a bridge, connecting Sydney Airport’s existing and proposed freight facilities on either side of Alexandra Canal (the freight terminal access).

Stage 2: Domestic Terminals Access

  • Terminals 2 & 3 Access: a new elevated viaduct and overpass connecting Terminals 2 and 3 with the upgraded Qantas Drive. Providing grade separated intersections at Qantas Drive/ Robey Street and Qantas Drive/ O’Riordan Street.
